Event Make your WORTH work!

It can be difficult to put into words what the ‘added value’ of your work as an artist is: when applying for funding, you may be faced with questions about the impact or urgency of your work. How do you determine the worth of your work, and communicate it?

During Make your WORTH work, WORM and Cultuur+Ondernemen join forces to offer tools to help you determine your own value and thus strengthen your economic position as an artist. The event aims to provide inspiration, practical help and discussion.

Programme

• We start the programme by zooming out with a presentation by Ellen Loots, assistant professor at Erasmus University Rotterdam with a specialization in arts management, cultural organizations and creative entrepreneurship. She will talk about the importance of art and culture in our society and the role of artists in this. Because in order to be able to determine your own value, we first investigate the added value of art in general.

• Subsequently, coach for creative entrepreneurs Tijmen Rümke talks about the difficulty of determining your value and which principles could help you.

• Shafelly Snijders, filmmaker, artist and coach, will demonstrate through an exercise with the audience how to determine your worth from within, without being distracted too much by the outside world.

• Spoken word artist, performer and writer Elten Kiene shares when he really started to see the value of his own work, and shares his insights and tips on how you as a maker determine your value and price.

• To finish, we will facilitate an open discussion with those in attendance.
